Deliver Us From Evil is an espionage novel of terrorism, betrayal, and redemption which begins as North Korean dissidents plot to commit an act of international terrorism within the United States using nerve gas as the weapon of mass destruction. A US Air Force intelligence officer accidentally stumbles on the activity and is captured and tortured.
Conflict occurs---first among the terrorists. Some of them want to move against a US national laboratory with Sarin, while others want to use the nerve gas in a terrorist attack on downtown Washington, DC.
Conflict also divides the psychiatric treatment staff of the hospital where the officer is admitted after his torture. Some of the staff, believing that their mystery patient suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, want him on heavy doses of psychotropic medication. Others suspect that the cause of schizophrenia involves post-traumatic stress and that the care of mental illness, including schizophrenia treatment, is to take people off all psychotropic medications.
The North Korean terrorists take steps to monitor the situation at the psychiatric hospital to make sure their attack with the weapon of mass destruction is not compromised. Their intelligence agent-in-place eventually decides that the officer should be killed.
This is a fast-paced spy thriller with plenty of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat until the shattering climax!
